Hello and welcome to Little Sims on the Prairie, my Sims 3 Homesteading/Legacy Challenge. I like legacy challenges but they can get boring after a while. So this one is an attempt to shake it up a bit. In the following posts I will share with you my Sims' journey as he goes Full Farmer, taking a raw piece of land and converting it into a self-sustainable family farm.
As with all legacy challenges, I'm going to start with a single founder. I've made mine a dude and named him Lazarus Long.
The rules are basically the same as any legacy challenge. Start on an empty lot with only 1,400 simoleons in your pocket. No mods for cheating (I'm using overwatch for game performance as well as a No Fridge Shopping cheat to add difficulty) or to give yourself an advantage.
So let's meet Lazarus.

The lifespan is set to Normal and the goal is to make it to Generation Ten. The twist with this Homesteading Challenge is to create a self-sustainable home.
Garden and fish for food and money.
You may choose an old-fashioned profession that lets you work from home: writing, daycare, etc.
Teens can get part-time jobs to build character.
Pick one Heir from every generation you produce and use them to create the next. No adoption allowed.
Here's Laz's home lot and let's look in on his first day on the land.
